Our New House

So many of you have requested photos... so here they are!

We have a LONG gravel drive that runs between two pastures. The white house and barn belong to our neighbors. Our house is down among the trees you see in the distance.

We actually own the land the drive is on, plus about 20 feet on either side. I predict that the first major purchase is going to be a riding mower...

Here's where the drive enters the trees. You can see Rob's shop directly ahead, and the house hiding off to the left.

Here's the house.

I don't have a photo of the back yet, but the deck you can almost see extending past the left side of the house actually wraps around the entire back.

The property goes back for another 5 acres past the house. It's all mixed fir and oak forest. I'm sure in some distant past it was harvested, but I haven't tramped through the thick underbrush to look for stumps yet. (It's been raining.)

Rob's shop, aka Man Territory. He's got all kinds of plans for this space. As far as I'm concerned, we'll work out a budget, then he can do whatever he wants... he just has to keep the door closed.

As if the pastures didn't prove that we're in mixed farm and forest country, across the street from us is a bona fide chicken farm. Luckily the house is in a bit of a hollow, with those nice tall trees between us and the farm. And the neighbors assure us that the wind generally blows in the other direction anyway.
I can't resist including some gratuitous cuteness. I think it's a rite of toddler passage to wear spaghetti.
